The Last Apprentice series has been a roller coaster so far, but it isn't a scary one despite the theme of the book. Monsters plague the county that Tom Ward lives in. It just so happens that he is going to be the apprentice of the person who rids the county of theses monsters. He is hesitant at first but he eventually learns to love his job. I love the writing style of Joseph Delaney. He keeps his characters in check and never makes them do things that are unusual unless it is for a goo reason, like a plot twist or something. The one character that I'm a little suspicious of is Alice the witch that Tom oddly befriends. She seems nice, but she never sugar coats anything even if it should be coated. She adores Tom, but rarely helps him in his apprenticeship, which I find odd. I love this series and can't wait until I finish all 8 of the books. This is going to be a long but enjoyable journey. Let's just hope that the ending is a good one.
